Kiku Kämäläinen

Kiku Kämäläinen is a Finnish Japanese pianist who was born in Japan. She started her music
studies at the age of 6 with Kotani Masaki in Japan. Kämäläinen moved to Finland in 2008 and
continued her music studies with Kristina Leskinen in Jokilaakso music institute. After moving to
Helsinki in 2012 she was studying in Espoo music institute with Katarina Nummi-Kuisma.
Furthermore she got accepted to the Youth Piano Academy in 2013 where she had several master
classes with both professors from Finland and abroad. In both institutes she was studying until she
got accepted to the Sibelius Academy in 2016. Her current teachers are Niklas Pokki and Teppo
Koivisto. She have had master classes for example with Henri Sigfridsson, Erik Tawastjerna, Hyun-
Ki Joo, Konstantin Bogino and Angela Hewitt. Kämäläinen has been performing in concerts,
festivals, many other occasions and has been taking a part in the competitions as well. She has
gain performing experiences as a soloist, chamber musician and lied pianist. The most remarkable
performances were held in PianoEspoo-festival, Mänttä music festival and Stainhraeber& Piano
Factory in Germany. She gave her first concert as a soloist with the Karuizawa Chamber Orchestra
at the age 9. Later she has performed with orchestra’s soloist in Italy and Finland. As for another
achievements, Kämäläinen has received 3rd prize in the Young Pianist of the North- competition in
2013 and 2nd prize in Melartin-competition in 2016. In 2015 she has been one of the semi-finalists
in Madetoja competition. ProMusica- foundation has also given her a grant in 2014 as a young
artist of the year.
